Gay Friendly Idaho Wedding Vendors

Back to the USA

We don't have any wedding vendors in this area yet - be the first!.

As a gay couple together since 1992, we believe that marriage and all the responsibilities and benefits that come with it should be available to committed gay and lesbian couples everywhere. So we created Purple Unions, a place where gay and lesbian couples can find gay friendly wedding vendors to help them plan their perfect wedding day.

After the Ninth Circuit invalidated the state's marriage equality ban on 10/8/14, the state asked the US Supreme Court to step in. Justice Kennedy placed a stay on the decision, but the Supreme Court removed the stay on 10/10/14, bringing full marriage equality to Idaho. The state does allow adoption for same sex couples.

The story starts with an Idaho Christian couple compelled -- forced! -- to wed same-sex couples in their chapel. Exactly the scenario... read_more

Two ministers, Donald and Evelyn Knapp, own a for-profit wedding chapel in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, but say they cannot marry same-sex couples because of their faith. Oct 10th, 2014

The developments continue too in Idaho, where the Governor is still dead-set against marriage equality, Here's what happened yesterday. Two days ago, Justice Kennedy granted the state's request for a stay in the marriage equality case, inadvertently blocking Nevada weddings for a day. LGBT Weekly looks at his possible reasoning:

Does this mean Kennedy won't rule in favor of marriage... read_more

Oct 9th, 2014

Things have gotten a bit messy in Idaho and Nevada since the Ninth Circuit overturned bans in both states on Tuesday. Here's the run-down. The Best Quote from Today's Ninth Circuit Marriage Equality Decision

Oct 7th, 2014

The Circuit Court took down Idaho Governor Butch Otter:

He also states, in conclusory fashion, that allowing same-sex marriage will lead opposite-sex couples to abuse alcohol and drugs, engage in extramarital affairs, take on demanding work schedules, and participate in time-consuming hobbies. We seriously doubt that allowing committed same-sex couples to settle down in legally recognized marriages will drive... read_more

At Purple Unions, we take marriage equality seriously. As a gay couple who have been together since 1992, we know that gay and lesbian couples can and do form long-term, stable, supportive relationships, and we believe the institution of marriage and all the responsabilities and benefits that come with it should be opened up to committed gay and lesbian couples everywhere. To this end, we created Purple Unions as a place where gay and lesbian couples can find gay friendly wedding vendors to help them plan their perfect wedding day.

Idaho currently does not allow or recognize marriages between gay and lesbian couples, and has both legal and constitutional bans on gay marriage. The state does allow adoption by gay and lesbian couples.

We hope that you find these resources useful, and that you'll join us in the fight for marriage equality!
