At Purple Unions, we take marriage equality seriously. As a gay couple who have been together since 1992, we know that gay and lesbian couples can and do form long-term, stable, supportive relationships, and we believe the institution of marriage and all the responsabilities and benefits that come with it should be opened up to committed gay and lesbian couples everywhere. To this end, we created Purple Unions as a place where gay and lesbian couples can find gay friendly wedding vendors to help them plan their perfect wedding day.

Australia doesn't currently recognize gay marriage - there's been an active effort to pass marriage equality legislation, but it has been stymied by a conservative Prime Minister, and now by a single, female, atheist PM who still believes marriage should only be between a man and a woman. But public sentiment in the country is way ahead of the politicians, and we think it's only a matter of time.

New Zealand also does not recognize gay marriage, but it does have a robust civil unions law that affords gay and lesbian citizens most of the same rights and responsibilities as their straight counterparts.
