7,000 Strong is an advocacy site for gay and lesbian marriage, created to help bring together the over 7,000 gay and lesbian couples who have been given marriage licenses in San Francisco, Multnomah County, New Paltz, Asbury Park and Sandoval County, but whom are still in legal limbo as the courts and the state legislatures work through this historic issue.

We're Mark and Scott, the site creators, a gay couple who met in 1992 and just celebrated our 12th anniversary. We created 7,000 Strong to show the human face of the couples involved - to spotlight how diverse and mainstream these 14,000+ individuals are who are petitioning their local and state governments for the right to be married. We welcome all who share this goal to join us as we work with a number of other fine organizations on legalizing gay marriage.

We look forward to a big marriage bash with all of our family and friends once this whole thing is finally resolved.
